What's New: History, Presentation & Reliability (Mar 17 – Jun 17, 2026)
Three months of work in one post. The big items: a session history view, better note presenting, a redesigned voting stage, and a round of bug fixes that had been biting during live sessions.
Team History
Browse your past sessions
Teams get a history overview of completed sessions. Once a session finished it used to vanish from view, with no way back into what happened in earlier retros. Now there's a list, and you can navigate into any session's summary.
Smarter routing when opening a completed session
Click into a session that's already done and the app takes you straight to the summary or history view instead of dropping you into the middle of a stage. No more clicking through stages to find your own results.
Presentation Experience
Notes now spotlight as they're presented
When presenting stacked notes in the whiteboard stage, the active note highlights with a dim overlay behind it. Easier for the team to follow along, and it keeps attention on the note being discussed.
Faster flow when notes have no speaker notes
Starting a presentation always opened a modal asking about speaker notes, even when there weren't any. The app checks first now and takes you straight into presenting.
Presenter reconnects without losing their role
If you were presenting and your phone went to sleep, re-opening the app sometimes showed stale state: you'd appear disconnected while the session carried on without you. The app re-syncs properly when the screen wakes back up.
Reliability & Bug Fixes
A substantial round of fixes here, most of them hitting active sessions.
AI summary now loads automatically after a page refresh
On the summary stage, refreshing the page meant clicking "Generate" again to get the AI summary back. It loads on init now, so it's there when you arrive.
Discussion groups now sort by vote count
Groups in the discussion stage are ordered by votes received, highest first. The order used to be arbitrary, which made prioritising harder than it needed to be.
Scroll unlocked on summary and admin stages
A CSS issue was making several views unscrollable, the summary page worst of all. Scrolling works as expected again.
Slack summary sharing works again
"Share to Slack" from the summary page was reporting "No integrations configured" even for teams with Slack connected. Turned out to be a timing issue in how integrations loaded. Fixed.
Discussion input clears when moving to the next group
Text typed into the notes input stayed put when you navigated between groups in the discussion stage. Moving to a new group resets the input now.
Timer no longer blocks input on participant view
The timer overlay was covering input fields during active stages, so participants couldn't type at all. Fixed.
Timer persists for participants after a page refresh
Participants who refreshed during a timed stage watched the timer disappear. It reloads correctly now.
New team members automatically added when joining via invite link
Joining a session through an invite link for the first time didn't add you to the team's member list. That now happens automatically on first join.
Voting Stage Redesign
The voting stage got a visual overhaul. The layout is cleaner, the cards are easier to read, and it holds up on mobile. If you haven't run a retro since March, you'll notice.
As always, if something isn't working as expected or you have feedback, reach out via the in-app feedback button. Thanks for using retrospective.fun!
